Abstract
Smart and connected systems for managing and securing homes create risks related to personal data protection, as The use of IoT technologies enables it to collect a huge, diverse, and continuous amount of data relating to the passers-by within its sensor range, also Its use of artificial intelligence software to process these data and perform the tasks required from it exposes personal data to advanced types of processing that may expose the data subject to the risks of profiling and the automation of decisions related to them, And the use of cloud computing technologies to connect the different sections of these systems exposes personal data to the risks of unlimited, simultaneous, continuous, and unknown transfer of personal data, Using facial recognition techniques by scanning face biometric data exposes personal data subjects to tracking risks and may result in wrongful criminal charges, and the presence of the devised that constitute those systems in an un-secure home environment may expose them to the contentious risks of external attacks, and the continues operations of these systems 24/7 expose the passers-by to the risks of collecting their data without their consent or awareness.
Therefore, those risks must be considered during the manufacturing and operating of these systems, to avoid these risks.
